Wintertime has come again to Odyssey--and so has Connie's trip to California. Everything is settled. All that's left now is getting time off from work. Whit grudgingly gives it. Connie sits next to Mrs. Nelson on the bus and finds out that God loves her, and He has put people in her life who have shown her that love. It's up to her to believe. As they arrive in California, Connie ponders this.
Finally, Connie is on the sunny California beach with her friend Marcie. Connie asks Marcie about one of their old friends, Pamela. Marcie says the old crowd hardly sees Pamela now because she's become a Christian.
Connie is having trouble spending time with her father. Bill Kendall is too busy to even have dinner with his only child. But Connie isn't totally alone. The doorbell rings, and in walks Pamela. She and Connie talk briefly about Pam's new life and she invites her to a beach bonfire where Connie is introduced to their group's sponsor--Mrs. Nelson, the woman Connie met on the bus! With that, Connie makes a decision to go back to Odyssey.
Once there, she immediately visits Whit. She tells him about her trip and why she returned so early. Then Connie says the words Whit has prayed for over a year to hear: "I want to ask Jesus Christ to come live in my heart." Whit cries tears of joy, praising God as they kneel to pray. In the center of the Bible Room, Connie Kendall becomes a new creation . . . and her real adventure finally begins.
