The Value of Mentoring Fatherless Boys
Details
John Smithbaker and Scott MacNaughton describe the problem of fatherlessness in America; the damaging impact that has on kids in general and boys in particular. Fatherless boys are often angry, bitter, and unmotivated to succeed because of abandonment by their fathers. John and Scott were both abandoned by their fathers, and as a result, want to help fatherless boys find healing in their lives. Their Fathers in the Field ministry pairs “mentor fathers” with fatherless boys for weekly activities — where they have fun, go to church, perform community service, and study God’s Word. A key element of their curriculum is to encourage fatherless boys to forgive their earthly fathers, and learn how to be followers of Christ.
