“Dad is dying; will you come to the funeral?”  Remembering the years of silence and disapproval that Gil Mertz experienced with his father,  he was tempted to answer, “Why bother?”  But God had other ideas, and Gil couldn’t shake a sense that he had to make things right before it was too late.
