Seeing Life With New Vision

Karen Wingate was born blind. She could make out light and dark, shapes and some color, but the world around her was mostly a blur. She lived her life as best as possible with this limitation – getting married and raising kids during this time – until at 55 years old, she was told she needed surgery because she was at risk of losing her sight completely. While on the operating table, the doctor told her that he believed he could restore her sight. After the surgery, Karen was able to see color, detail, and words for the first time in one eye. She began to observe the world around her and document it, describing how her new sight has taught her more ways that she can praise God. She began to view life like a child sitting at the feet of her Father. In this interview, she will help us see the miraculous in the mundane. She’ll discuss discovering the character of God through his creation, learning to appreciate God’s gifts, and asking why when your prayer isn’t answered.
